Meet Alex
Alex Houghton is the face (and the hands!) of Appleton Footcare, a Podiatry/Chiropody service providing care to patients across The Wirral.
Alex graduated from Salford University in 1991 with a Diploma in Podiatric Medicine. She started her career as a Podiatrist for Wirral Community Trust, working in GP surgeries, community clinics and hospital environments and eventually became a Clinic Lead. Alex developed her skills working with everyone from routine patients to high risk patients with diabetes.
After having children, Alex went part time with the NHS and started private home visits. This began as a way to fit her Podiatry work around childcare, but her service proved to be so popular that she left the NHS in 2014.
The next step was setting up her own clinic. Alex opened Appleton Footcare in 2019, providing a range of Podiatry and Chiropody treatments to the Greasby area and beyond.
Qualifications
Alex carries out continued professional development to help her provide the best level of care to her patients. She completes regular courses and attends the Annual Podiatry Conference, keeping her up to date with the industry.
